November 9: Holiday Cooking School from 5-7 pm at London Community Center, 529 S Main St, London, KY. Doors will be open at 4:30 pm. Tickets are $25 each and includes Magnolia Table cookbook by Joanna Gaines, food samples from featured cookbook, Speak, Richard, Lawrence, Stuarto’s – Cooking with Flavor, Speaker, Annhall Norris, UK Extension Specialist – Food Safety. Tickets are available to purchase at your local Extension Office.

November 14: KCARD: Growing your Farm & Food Business – Funding & Resources – November 14th from 9 am – 4 pm at the EXCEL building. We’re excited to share that registration is open for our upcoming Growing Your Farm and Food Business workshops! Registration is $20 for the in-person workshops. Topics include essentials of business planning, qualities of a good grant proposal, and key grant programs across the state. Representatives from USDA, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Kentucky State University, and the Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy will discuss their programs. For the in-person workshops, lunch will be provided. We’d greatly appreciate your help to promote farmers and agribusinesses in the areas. The links to register are below. November 14: 4-H Counted Cross Stitch will be on November 14th at 4:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. We will follow a fall themed counted cross stitch pattern that can be used for the home, as a gift or entered in the Kentucky Stat Fair! FREE & open to all youth ages 9-18. You must call 598-2789 to register.

 

November 14: Card Making Club meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 1PM at the Clay County Extension Office. Join this homemaker club and create beautiful greeting cards each month. The Card Club welcomes new members. If you’re not already a Homemaker member, dues are $12 annually.

 

November 15-16: 4-H Pumpkin Pie Contest Do you love cooking? Participate in our 4-H Pumpkin Pie Contest! Choose your very own pumpkin pie recipe and enter your pie at the Clay County Extension Office November 15th-16th (8-4pm). Pies will be judged on taste, texture, smell, appearance, etc. The contest is open to kids 9-18. The winner will receive a basket of kitchen/cooking supplies!!

 

November 21: 4-H Art Club will be on November 21st at 4:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. If you love being creative, join us for a different art project each month. FREE & open to all youth ages 9-18. You must call 598-2789 to register.

 

November 18: Pins & Needles Homemaker Club meets the 3rd Saturday of every month at 10 AM at the EXCEL building beside McDonalds. This club always welcomes new members! Bring your materials and join them with your sewing projects. Don’t know how to sew, no problem...they will teach you! If you’re not already a homemaker member, dues are $12 annually. Call 598-2789 for more information.

 

November 27: 4-H Cooking Club will be on November 27th at 4:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. Join us as we make a delicious recipe! FREE & open to youth ages 9-18. Please call 598-2789 to reserve your spot.

 

November 30: Turf Grass Commercial Applicator Training will be on November 30th from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm at the Laurel County Extension Office. Check out our Facebook page or website at a later date for more upcoming information about this event. 4 CEU’s available!

 

November 30: The Importance of Pollinators will be on November 30th at 6 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. This month’s topic is Protecting Pollinators. We will have a potluck meal, so bring your favorite dish. Please call 598-2789 to register.

 

November 30: The Piggy Bank Contest is a creative way for youth to learn about the importance of saving money by creating their very own piggy bank! This opportunity is open to K-12 grades. Piggy banks will be judged locally, and then they will move on to the area and state competition! Drop off at the Clay County Extension Office between November 1-30th.

 

December 7: Goat & Sheep Educational Workshop & Dinner The Southeast Kentucky Sheep Producers Association (SEKSPA) and the Clay County Cooperative Extension Service invite you to attend a Sheep and Goat Educational Workshop and Dinner. The event will be at the Clay County EXCEL building (86 Muddy Gap Rd, Manchester, KY 40962) on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 6:00 pm. Dr. Patrick Angel, Southeast KY Sheep Producers Association, David Peery, KY State University, and Lester Brashear, Brashear Heritage Farm, will be the featured guest speakers. Registration is required. Please register by calling the Clay County Extension Office at (606)598-2789. $10.00 per family includes a lamb dinner with sides and a one year membership to SEKSPA. Please invite other goat and sheep farmers in your area! CAIP educational requirement approved!
