Family and Consumer Sciences: The goal of the Family & Consumer Sciences Program is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families.  We address the challenges of critical issues affecting people's daily lives in a changing environment.  Programs focus on economic, social and physical well-being of our clients.  We strengthen personal and family relationships, encourage healthful choices, and identify resources to extend income.

PROGRAMS

Harvesting Homemakers will be on October 11th at 6:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office.  Come learn about Clay County Homemakers and meet others.  Enjoy an evening of pumpkin food and crafts.  Call 598-2789 to let us know you’re interested in attending.  Looking forward to meeting you!  FLYER


Fall Pumpkin Painting will be held on October 12th at the Extension Office beginning at 1:00 pm.  Rebecca Miller will be teaching you how to paint a fall picture on an 8” X 10” canvas that you can display in your home.  Class is limited so you must call 598-2789 to register.  Free and open to the public.


A Year of Recipes will be on October 16th at 6:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office.  We will be using our SNAP calendar recipes to prepare the October recipes.  Come enjoy a tasty fall food.  FREE & open to the public, but you MUST call 598-2789 to register.


Holiday Ideas (Homemaker Leader Training) will be October 18th at 10:00 am at the Extension Office. Love to craft? Looking for craft ideas for the holidays? Then this is the program for you. We will be talking about a series of crafts and be making one craft at the workshop that day. Free and open to the public, but please call 598-2789 to register. 


Growth Wheel will be October 22nd at 5:30 pm at the Extension Office. Have you been wanting to start a small business and wondering how to get started? Attend the first in a three part series. Growth Wheel will help you be successful. It can help you avoid blind spots and make good decisions. The program is free, but you must call to register at 598-2789. A lite meal may be provided.  FLYER


Wooden Box Project will be held October 23rd at 6:00 pm at Extension Office taught by Pan Asher and Chad’s Hope. Do you enjoy working with your hands and the beauty of wood? Then attend this meeting! You will be able to sand and stain a wooden box. All supplies will be furnished for $20.00. Class is limited so you must call 598-2789 to register.


Creole Cooking Class will be October 25th at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office. Come learn about creole cooking and sample a dish. Join other individuals that like to experience foods from different cultures. The program is free and open to the public, but call 598-2789 to register.


Holiday Cooking School will be on Thursday, November 8th at 5:00 pm at the London/Laurel County Optimist Club, 383 Sinking Creek Rd, London, KY. Prepare for the holiday season as you meet with folks from across the region to enjoy this annual event. Holiday Cooking School will feature food booths with plenty of samples, tablescapes with holiday decorating ideas, and demonstrations from experts in the field. A limited number of tickets will be on sale at the Extension Office. Event tickets are $20 and MUST be purchased in advance and includes our featured cookbook "Paula Deen Celebrates!"  FLYER


Wool Rug Hooking - Come learn traditional wool rug hooking basics. Cost is $20. This includes hook, wool, foundation fabric and backing in a kit to make a mug rug size project. All other supplies will be furnished to learn the traditional heritage skill of wool hooking. Class will be on Monday, December 10th at 10:30 am at the Clay County Extension Office.  Call 598-2789 and register.  Pay the $20 fee to reserve your space, by Wednesday, December 5th.


No Party Tea Party is sponsored by the Clay County Homemakers.  You receive a teacup, tea bag and a muffin in a gift box.  They can be picked up on December 14th at the Clay County Extension Office.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any Clay County Homemaker or at the Clay County Extension Office.  Half of all proceeds will be donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund & the other half will be donated to the Clay County Homemakers.  For more information, call 598-2789.  FLYER
