The goal of the Family and Consumer Sciences Program is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families.  We address the challenges of critical issues affecting people's daily lives in a changing environment.  Programs focus on economic, social and physical well-being of our clients.  We strengthen personal and family relationships, encourage healthful choices, and identify resources to extend income.

The Beginning Sewing program will be at the Excel Building on September 29, 5:00. "Are you looking to learn how to sew but have no clue where to begin? Everyone is welcome to come to Clay County Extension's Beginning Sewing Class! You will learn the basics of operating a sewing machine, how to measure and cut fabric, and make a simple drawstring bag. Please call us at 598-2789 to register!"

Holiday Ideas will be on October 14th at 1PM at the Clay County Extension Office. Call us at 598-2789 to register. You will receive a book full of different inexpensive DIY holiday décor and participate in a DIY activity. We will have samples of each item available for everyone to view! The 2022 Holiday Idea books will be available to pick up at the Extension Office any time.

We will be hosting a series of Embroidery Classes four Tuesday nights in November! Each class is $10 and materials needed will be provided to you. Beginners are welcome! Dates of classes: November 1st, November 8th, November 22nd and November 29th. Each class will begin at 5:30PM at the EXCEL building beside McDonalds, 86 Muddy Gap Rd, Manchester, KY 40962. Please call 598-2789 to sign up! Spots are limited!

Wilderness Trail Area Holiday Cooking School will be on November 10th at the Optimist Club in London, KY at 5PM. Tickets are $25 each, includes admission and a copy of the featured cookbook. The featured cookbook is Homemade with Love by the Bell County Extension Homemakers. Contact your local Cooperative Extension Office to purchase tickets and get your cookbook! Tickets will not be sold at the door and are extremely limited.

 ♦We do have USDA approved up-to-date canning, freezing and drying publications. If you will call us, we will put your copies in the   vestibule for you to pick up.

We can check your dial gauge pressure canner lids.  Call 598-2789 to let us know when you will be coming.  We will check your lid while you wait.  You must call us when you arrive at our office.
