Family and Consumer Sciences: The goal of the Family & Consumer Sciences Program is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families.  We address the challenges of critical issues affecting people's daily lives in a changing environment.  Programs focus on economic, social and physical well-being of our clients.  We strengthen personal and family relationships, encourage healthful choices, and identify resources to extend income.

PROGRAMS


For the safety of our clientele & staff, the Clay County Extension Office is temporarily limiting public access. We are open by appointment ONLY and for small group meetings & events. You MUST call the office to schedule an appointment and for entry into the office. Appointments with individual agents & staff may also be scheduled via email.

We are here to assist you. Need canning/freezing publications? Our large meeting room foyer will be open on weekend days from 8am-4pm to pick up canning publications. For questions, call 598-2789 Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4 pm or email Lora at the email address above.


►Lora is going to be doing some ZOOM and Facebook live programs to continue offering Family & Consumer Science programs.  Notices for these programs will on our office Facebook page:  Clay County Cooperative Extension Service and through email. 

For the ZOOM programs, we need your email.  Please send to Lora at lhoward@uky.edu   The programs are offered to the public, so if you wish to participate, watch our office Facebook page for them.

We received notice that our office will continue to have limited access to the public until the end of May.  We hope you and yours are healthy and safe.  Programs are open to the  public.

Cooking By the Calendar is August 18th at 10:00 am by Facebook Live.  Lora will be doing the August recipe in the Food & Nutrition Calendar.  Join us and enjoy a new recipe to serve your family that will be nutritious and taste good!

 

Recipes for Life is August 20th, 24th & 27th and September 3rd & 10th at 10:00 am.  Come learn with us about eating nutritionally and enjoy a food demonstration.  We will send you educational information by mail, as well as provide a food demonstration by Facebook Live.  You must be a friend of the Clay County Cooperative Extension Service Facebook page to view the food demonstration.  Call 598-2789 to register and give us your physical address and phone number to receive the educational information.

 

Saving Savvy with Grocery List and Coupon App (Homemaker leader training) will be August 26th at 10:00 am by Facetime.  Lora is going to try something new with programming called Facetime.  She doesn’t know how it will work, but you will learn together. To participate in this program, she needs you to send her your cell phone number.  She will call you on the 26th at 10:00 am to share information with you.  We will do a practice session on the 24th at 11:00 am.  If you want to register, please call 598-2789 and be sure to give us your cell phone number.  This program is free and the public is invited.

 

Homemaker Council Meeting will be August 31th at 5:30 pm by Zoom.  Lora will send the Zoom link to all homemaker club and county officers.  You need to download the Zoom app on your phone or I Pad to participate on those devices.  If you are going to be on a computer, you will just click on the link.

 

♦We do have USDA approved up-to-date canning, freezing and drying publications. If you will call us, we will put your copies in the   vestibule for you to pick up.

We can check your dial gauge pressure canner lids.  Call 598-2789 to let us know when you will be coming.  We will check your lid while you wait.  You must call us when you arrive at our office.
